About Karazin University

V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University is one of the oldest classical universities in Eastern Europe, ranked among the TOP 500 best universities in the world according to the prestigious international ranking QS World University Rankings (UK).

Over its almost 220-year history, Karazin University has given the world more than 150,000 graduates, including three Nobel Prize winners and hundreds of outstanding scientists whose contribution to the development of science and human civilization is difficult to overestimate.

Today, Karazin University consists of 6 research and education institutes, 17 faculties, 131 departments and about 200 master’s and bachelor’s degree programs for 16,000 students, including about 4,000 citizens of 57 countries.

About the Center

The Center for Postgraduate Medical Education of the School of Medicine of V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University is a structural subdivision of the University, which was established by the decision of the Academic Council of 29.03.2021, Minutes No. 4, put into effect by the order of the Acting Rector of 28.04.2021 No. 3501-1/182.

The work of the Center is organized and carried out in accordance with the legislation of Ukraine in order to provide organizational, expert-analytical, informational support for the work of the structural subdivisions of the University, which carry out educational, scientific, educational and methodological work in the field of postgraduate medical education in a single system of continuous professional development of health care workers, continuous improvement of the quality of education to the European level, as well as the formation and development of a single educational and professional space for non-medical specialties in order to increase the level of competence in the field of medical and preventive knowledge, which is regulated by the Regulations on the Center, approved by the decision of the Academic Council of 28.11.2022, Minutes No. 18, and put into effect by the order of the rector No. 3501-1/708 of 05.12.2022.

Activities of the Center

The Center coordinates the educational activities of the powerful scientific and pedagogical staff of the School of Medicine and other structural subdivisions of the University in the field of postgraduate medical education, which includes more than 30 doctors of sciences, professors, about 200 candidates of sciences, associate professors, well-known specialists in Ukraine and abroad, well-known scientists, doctors, and teachers.

Educational activities are conducted using the modern material and technical base of the School of Medicine, the best general clinical simulation center in the country, two dental simulation centers and almost 30 clinical bases, including six institutes of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine and the best health care facilities in Kharkiv.

Since the organization of the Center at the School of Medicine, Karazin University has been providing students of several categories with the opportunity to receive a full cycle of medical education from the school desk to the doctor’s workplace and to maintain the proper level of professional competence of healthcare professionals of all categories throughout the entire period of their professional activity through numerous continuous professional development activities.
