Karazin School of Dentistry
The school provides training of students in the school’s field at the undergraduate level, training of doctors-interns, advanced training of dentists in the cycles of secondary medical specialization, internships and numerous activities of continuous professional development with the accrual of CPD points
The educational activities of the School provide fundamental interdisciplinary theoretical training of students based on the latest data of scientific research and evidence-based medicine with the wide integration of modern simulation technologies of training on the basis of the best simulation center in the country and in the conditions of real clinical practice at the clinical bases of the School of Medicine. The School operates on the basis of several clinical bases, including the leading dental care institution of regional importance, Kharkiv Regional Dental Polyclinic, where a modern Karazin Simulation and Clinical Center has been recently established, which is used to develop practical skills on modern simulators and in real clinical practice. In order to implement the concept of practice-oriented education, the dental department of the Karazin Simulation Centre with state-of-the-art simulation equipment was additionally created.
The School is headed by a well-known scientist and clinician, Head of the Department of Dentistry at the School of Medicine of V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University. Karazin, Doctor of Medicine, Full Professor, dentist Andrii NIKONOV is the author of 15 teaching aids and methodological recommendations, more than 150 scientific papers, 5 articles in journals included in foreign scientometric databases and having an impact factor, 32 articles in domestic and foreign professional publications, 11 patents and copyright certificates, co-organiser of more than 10 international scientific and practical conferences with more than 25 years of experience in scientific, pedagogical and clinical work.
The educational activity of the school is provided by a powerful interdepartmental scientific and pedagogical team, which includes leading specialists of the country. Following the interdisciplinary approach to the organization of events in the field of health care management and administration and medical and preventive care, the training of higher education students in the specialty 221 Dentistry, interns who are trained in the internship in the specialty 221 Dentistry, young and experienced dentists of all dental specialties at numerous events of continuous professional development is carried out by scientific and pedagogical specialists of other departments of the School of Medicine within their competence.
