Karazin School of Clinical Biochemistry, Laboratory Diagnostics and Medical Biophysics
The school provides undergraduate training for students in the school’s field of study, offers specialization cycles to people with higher non-medical education who work in the healthcare sector, and invites healthcare professionals to numerous CPD events with CPD points.
The educational activities of the School are conducted using modern educational and research equipment of leading world brands and in real laboratory practice on the basis of the Karazin BioMed Biomedical Research Laboratory, which is the basis for lectures, trainings and master classes in clinical biochemistry and molecular diagnostics for students, interns, doctors of clinical specialties and laboratory assistants at thematic improvement cycles and other CPD events, as well as a unit that organizes and conducts biomedical research using modern methods of biochemistry, molecular biology and cellular technologies. A powerful reinforcement of the educational offers of the School are fundamental trainings and cycles of thematic improvement from the department of molecular and medical biophysics, which in the best traditions of classical university education provide interdisciplinary, multi-vector training of students.
The School is headed by a well-known scientist and teacher, head of the Karazin BioMed Biomedical Research Laboratory, PhD in Biology (Biochemistry), Associate Professor Yurii KOT, author of 105 scientific papers, including more than 10 articles indexed by the SCOPUS scientometric database, 4 textbooks in Ukrainian and English over the past 3 years. Yurii Hryhorovych was awarded the gratitude of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine for his significant personal contribution to the training of highly qualified specialists and fruitful scientific and pedagogical activities (2020), the gratitude of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine for the high level of scientific and technical expertise as a member of the Expert Council of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine in the field of “Development and implementation of new technologies and equipment for quality medical care, pharmaceuticals, prevention and treatment of diseases; biotechnology” (2021), gratitude of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine for many years of conscientious work, significant personal contribution to the training of highly qualified specialists and fruitful scientific and pedagogical activities (2022). He is a member of the European Federation of Biochemical Societies (FEBS). The total experience of scientific, pedagogical and practical activity is more than 20 years.
The educational activity of the school is provided by a powerful interdepartmental scientific and pedagogical team, which includes leading specialists of the country. Following the interdisciplinary approach to the organization of events in the field of clinical biochemistry and laboratory diagnostics, the training of students of certain educational events is carried out by scientific and pedagogical specialists of other departments of the School of Medicine within their competence.
